Three hundred faculty and staff filled Beckham Hall for a feast of food and drink provided by 18 vendors at the fifth annual Taste of Middletown on March 9. Offerings ranged from empanadas, a macaroni and cheese bar, salads, chicken tikka masala and vegan spring rolls to a wide assortment of pastries and desserts and a variety of beverages. Wesleyan welcomed six new vendors to the event this year, including La Piastra, Red Fox, Iguanas Ranas, Taino Smokehouse, Fiore II, Mi Argentina and Mondo. (more…)

The Campus Activities Committee sponsored the 3rd Annual Taste of Middletown, an event offering samples from 15 local restaurants and hotels including Typhoon Asian Cuisine, Sweet Harmony Bakery, Lyman Orchards and more. The event took place on April 30 in Beckham Hall and included a raffle prizes. More than 225 Wesleyan faculty and staff attended. Employees were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to Amazing Grace, a food pantry located in Middletown. Thirteen local eateries and businesses participated in Wesleyan’s second annual Taste of Middletown, March 5 in Beckham Hall. The event was sponsored by Wesleyan’s Campus Activities Committee and the Office of Human Resources. Businesses included the Sweet Harmony Cafe and Bakery, Mondo, Luce Restaurant, Esca, Haveli India, Tibetan Kitchen, Tuscany Grill, W.B. Mason, Wesleyan's Bon Appetit, the Inn at Middletown and Tavern at the Armory; Courtyard by Marriott - Cromwell and Sheraton Hartford South Hotel. More than 200 Wesleyan employees attended the event. The Campus Activities Committee hosted "Taste of Middletown" on Oct. 20 as a way to celebrate Wesleyan's faculty and staff. More than a dozen Middletown eateries attended, including Famous Pizza, First & Last, Haveli Indian Restaurant, Sweet Harmony Bakery, Esca and more. The newly-formed Campus Activities Committee (CAC) wants to celebrate Wesleyan's faculty and staff - and their families too. Starting this month, the committee will offer a series of events, catered to Wes employees. "Our committee is working to provide a wonderful opportunity for members of our community to meet one another in different settings. Wesleyan offers great resources and our planned activities will encourage faculty, staff and families to enjoy them," says committee member Pat Melley, director of human resources.
