Eric Mangini '94 was introduced as the new head coach of the NFL's Cleveland Browns. Mangini, who had finished the season as coach of the New York Jets was scooped up by the Browns just nine days after he left the Jets. In dramatic fashion, the Wesleyan Men's Basketball Team gave NESCAC rival and nationally-ranked #5 Amherst its first loss of the season with a buzzer-beating, last-second shot from 30 feet away by Jeremy Kaminer '10. Channel 30 reported the news and offers a video highlight provided by Wesleyan's Athletic Department. The January 6th win was the Men's first against Amherst's basketball team since 2001.

Ron Kuivila, chair of music, and Barry Chernoff, professor of biology and Robert Schumann Professor of Environmental Studies, were featured on WNPR recently regarding a musical installation called "The Weather at Six" which is part of the Feet to the Fire project.  The Weather at Six uses the Wesleyan carillon for' a sonic interpretation of the weather of the last 130 years and is designed to get people to think about global warming.'

A recent article posted by Fox News discussing this year award-winning films identified by the National Board of Reviev (NBR), Director-Actor Clint Eastwood lauded NBR member Jeanine Basinger, Chair and Corwin-Fuller Professor of Film Studies, who is a champion of Eastwood's work and has secured his work for the Wesleyan Film Archives, "You don't say no to Jeanine Basinger."

Dan Lachman '09 was featured in an a Oct. 12 Washington Post article titled Making it: A college student takes aim at his future by starting a profitable clothing business". Lachman, 21, started his company, Sharp Shirter, in 2005. He creates clothing designs and laptop skins. According to the article, "after college, Dan plans to move to Philadelphia and continue expanding Sharp Shirter while perhaps working for a start-up company that's further along so he can learn more about running a business. Ultimately, he wants to run Sharp Shirter online from South Africa, where his father was born and where…
