University Relations and the Career Center hosted "Creating Connections" on Feb. 28.  Students of all class years and interests were matched with Expert Advisors (recruiters and hiring managers as well as alumni and parent volunteers) for brief, one-on-one sessions.  Students introduced themselves and their backgrounds, and practiced their networking and presentation skills. The Class of 2014 attended a SWAG (Seniors of Wesleyan Annual Gift) event Feb. 27 in Daniel Family Commons. During SWAG, students and guest speakers encourage seniors to give to the Senior Class Gift, a tradition that dates back about 20 years. In 2013, members of the senior class were among the more than 11,000 Wesleyan alumni, parents, and friends gave $10.4 M to the Wesleyan Fund. This year the Class of 2014 has a goal of $10,000 and 60 percent participation.For more information on SWAG see this link. A gaggle of Canada geese took a gander at Wesleyan Feb. 28. Many basked in the sun near College Row. Canada geese are year round residents in Connecticut; these geese may be checking out the wide open Wesleyan lawns—a favorite habitat for feeding and breeding. The geese also were spotted March 1 on Jackson Field near the Center for the Arts. (more…)

On Jan. 30, Wesleyan faculty hosted an informal discussion on “How to Get Your Book Published" inside Downey House. Faculty, students and staff from Wesleyan University Press shared advice. The event was organized by Andy Curran, dean of the Arts and Humanities Division, director of curricular initiatives, professor of French; and Joyce Jacobsen, dean of the Social Sciences Division, director of global initiatives, the Andrews Professor of Economics and interim director of the Allbritton Center.
