Peter Rutland dispenses advice for tourists heading to Europe this summer

Heading to Europe for vacation this summer? Peter Rutland has some advice for you on the art of waiting in line–or not–at tourist attractions. In this tongue-in-cheek essay published in the McClatchy newspaper chain, Rutland pokes fun at the “diametrically opposed attitudes toward standing in line north and south of the Alps,” and offers up different techniques for queue jumping.

Rutland is Colin and Nancy Campbell Professor in Global Issues and Democratic Thought, professor of government, professor of Russian and Eastern European studies, and a tutor in the College of Social Studies.
