Faculty Receive Fulbright Scholar Grants

| Three members of the Wesleyan faculty have been awarded Fulbright Scholar grants for the 2006-2007 academic year: Stephen Angle, associate professor of philosophy; Ronald Jenkins, professor of theater; and Jeff Rider, professor of romance languages and literature.
They join approximately 800 other U.S. faculty and professional who will travel abroad through the Fulbright Scholar program, which is sponsored by the U.S. department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Angles his Fulbright-sponsored study will take place at Peking University in Beijing, China to further his research, titled: Sagehood: The Contemporary Ethical Significance of Neo-Confucianism. Jenkins will travel to Bali, Indonesia in January to study Messages of Tolerance in Balinese Temple Festival Performances” under the auspices of Balis College of the Performing Arts.
According to the Fulbright Program recipients of Fulbright awards are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. For further information on the Fulbright Program: http://exchanges.state.gov. |
