“Wesleyan Statement” on Carbon Pricing Gains Favor

Proposal from an international conference hosted by the College of the Environment is picking up supporters

A recent report in Miller-McCune Magazine cites the “Wesleyan Statement” as the new driver in global carbon emission policy discussions. The “Wesleyan Statement” refers to a proposal that came out of last year’s “Conference on Pricing Carbon” that was hosted on campus and sponsored by Wesleyan’s College of the Environment. The proposal involves taxing carbon then returning payments to consumers through direct payment or tax credits.
