Early Decision, Aid Not Always Straightforward

As part of an on-going series in The Chronicle of Higher Education titled “Newly Minted,” John Gudvangen, director of financial aid, discusses the process behind awarding aid. Some decisions can be made within 15 minutes or so by a single individual. But on occasion, extraneous circumstances require in depth discussion and research by several members of the financial aid office.
