Culotta Named Associate Provost, Curran New GLS Interim Director
Sheryl Culotta, director of continuing studies and Graduate Liberal Studies, will serve as Wesleyan’s associate provost beginning Nov. 18.
Culotta started working at Wesleyan in 2005. She earned a JD at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and a BA from Colgate University. Before coming to Wesleyan, she was assistant director of Master of Liberal Arts at Stanford University.
As director of continuing studies, Culotta has a long record of developing, launching and overseeing many new programs at Wesleyan, including Summer Session, Coursera, Pre-College Studies, Non-Degree Study, ICPP and the new Winter Session, while continuing to manage the Graduate Liberal Studies program. Culotta has been responsible for developing curriculum, recruiting faculty, managing student services and incorporating new technology.
Culotta also has served on a number of committees at Wesleyan including the Enrollment Management Committee, the Ad Hoc Committee on Education Programs, the Reaccreditation Committee Academic Program Standard, and the Advisory Committee for the Wesleyan Institute for Lifelong Learning. She also served as a liaison to the Board of Trustees Subcommittee on Online Learning and Alumni/Community Connections.
Jennifer Curran, associate director for student services and outreach, will become interim director of continuing studies and Graduate Liberal Studies on Nov. 18, while Wesleyan conducts a nationwide search for a new director. Curran earned her BA from Tufts University and her MA in French Literature from New York University. Prior to coming to Wesleyan, Curran spent much of her career in arts marketing at Lincoln Center in New York, first at the New York Philharmonic, and then as director of marketing and subscription at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. She began her career at Wesleyan in 2001, as functional project manager for the Electronic Portfolio.
