Oct. 6, University Professor of English Ian Baucom gave the first lecture in the English Department Lecture Series, titled “Reading a Letter: Republicanism, Empire, and the Archives of the Atlantic.” On Oct. 7, he gave a faculty seminar at the Center for the Humanities organized by the English Department and the Theory Certificate. The topic of the morning seminar was Baucom’s current book project, titled “The Disasters of War: On Inimical Life.”
