The award was given in honor of Douglas Bennets 10 years as president of Wesleyan University. She will spend a year on sabbatical, and return to Wesleyan as a professor of history in 2008. Brown was recruited six years ago to help Wesleyan achieve its highest academic aspirations as a liberal arts university.
