Alaskan composer John Luther Adams presented a talk on his new book, The Place Where You Go to Listen, Jan. 28 in the Center for the Arts Cinema. For the past 30 years, the vastness of Alaska has been at the forefront of the composer's imagination and his compositions. Adams sampled his musical compositions during the talk.

Adams’s book, The Place Where You Go to Listen, is published by the Wesleyan University Press, March 2009. Adams writes about creating music from data streams measuring the rhythms of night and day, the phases and positions of the moon, the changing sky conditions, seismic readings and disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field.
