Bleachers Installed on Oldest, Continuously-Used Collegiate Football Field in the U.S.

Wesleyan grounds crew installed the bleachers and press box surrounding Corwin Stadium Aug. 18-31. — A sure sign of the coming of autumn is when the Wesleyan grounds crew begins their annual ritual of installing the bleachers and press box surrounding Corwin Stadium.

The bleacher segments are stored near the tennis courts on Lawn Avenue and trucked to campus. A forklift is used to arrange the bleacher segments.

A crane is used to hoist the two press box units to the top of the bleachers.

Corwin Stadium, named for distinguished alumnus and benefactor of the college, Bruce Corwin '62, is part of Andrus Field. Andrus Field has been the site of Wesleyan football since its inception in the early 1880s.
