All NewsSnapshotsRunners, Walkers Support Brighter Dawns at 5K Cynthia RockwellApril 17, 20124minStudents involved with Brighter Dawns organized their second annual 5K run/walk on April 14, starting at Long Lane Farm, with members of the Wesleyan community and local residents participating. Brighter Dawns, founded by Tasmiha Khan ’12, is a charitable organization committed to improving health in the slums of Bangladesh. Race participants paid a $10 entry fee for the field and trail run. More than $700 was raised at the 5K. Lisa LaPlant, assistant to the secretary of the university, ran the 5K with her dog, Gabriel. Participants sign up for the fun-run, with treats and lots of water available for the athletes and their friends. Winners—the three fastest men and the three fastest women—received medals and warm applause. And the trio winning the mens' medals are . . .
