All NewsSnapshotsLocal Community Participates in Wesleyan’s Big Draw Olivia DrakeMay 9, 20123minIn celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Friends of the Davison Art Center presented “The Big Draw: Middletown,” on April 22. The event celebrated drawing with workshops for people of all skill levels, from beginners to accomplished artists. “The Big Draw: Middletown” featured about a dozen drawing workshops throughout campus. These youngsters are drawing on the community mural in celebration of Earth Day. Artist-in-Residence Keiji Shinohara teaches local children about Japanese sumi-e ink drawing. Participants had the opportunity to draw from live models dressed in period costumes in the Davison Art Center. Kate TenEyck, visiting assistant professor of art, art studio technician, teaches drawing in the multipurpose room.
