Wesleyan’s 181st Commencement in the News
Wesleyan awarded 785 bachelor degrees and dozens of master and doctoral degrees on May 26
The Middletown Press reported on Wesleyan’s 181st Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 26, at which 785 undergraduates were awarded diplomas, along with dozens of master and doctoral students. In his remarks, President Michael Roth praised the values of non-violence, diversity and equality, while Commencement speaker Joss Whedon ’87, recipient of an honorary doctor of letters, challenged students to always question their own beliefs.
“Don’t just be yourself, be all of yourselves. Don’t just live … be life,” said Whedon. “And have fun.”
