Ishita Mukerji (not pictured), dean of the Natural Sciences and mathematics Division, professor of molecular biology and biochemistry, hosted a DNA workshop with nine middle school students. Students built a DNA model made from DNA from their own cheek cells. They also participated in a mock crime scene investigation, performing procedures to compare “Crime Scene DNA” with “suspect DNA.” Molecular biology and biochemistry graduate student Li Yan and Laura Nocka ’14 helped teach the workshop.
