As part of Wesleyan’s sustainability efforts, a 2,500 square foot “green roof” was planted on the top of Boger Hall. The roof started to bloom in late June.
The green roof provides water filtration and a reduction of heat.The green roof requires minimal maintenance.In February 2013, the U.S. Green Building Council certified Boger Hall (a former squash facility) with a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) “Platinum” designation. LEED certification is a recognized standard for measuring building sustainability. LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
