The event brought together panelists such as Arzoo Osanloo, professor of anthropology at the University of Washington, who are working on gender issues in Muslim communities, spanning Southeast Asia, North Africa, Britain, the Middle East and North America. The symposium's topic was "Islam and Gender: Social Changes and Diversity in Muslim Communities." It was open to faculty and students from all departments and majors.
