On April 16, the Wesleyan chapter presented 1,100 backpacks and personal stories representing the 1,100 college students who die by suicide each year. Students received literature and pamphlets on mental health awareness and suicide prevention. According to Active Minds, suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students. Silence and stigma keep young people from seeking the care they need. A range of effective mental health services and treatments exist. For more information, visit sendsilencepacking.org.
