Wesleyan President Michael Roth and his wife, Kari Weil, visiting professor of letters, listen to Ross's talk. By using a large large format, 8x10-inch inch view camera, Ross creates luminous portraits of ordinary people. The audience listens to Ross's talk during the show's opening reception. Ross included photographs from three decades of photographing public school children, visitors to the Vietnam Memorial and contemporary protesters against the Iraq War. At left, Bill Johnston, chair and professor of history, professor of East Asian studies, professor of science in society and tutor in the College of Social Studies, and Clare Rogan, curator of the Davison Art Center and adjunct assistant professor of art history, applaud Ross's talk. Judith Joy Ross: Photographs is open to the public and free of charge. The Davison Art Center is open noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
