Handicap Upgrades, Sprinker Installations Part of Summer Renovations

Wesleyan received several renovations during the summer months. Pictured, staff from Winterberry Irrigation & Lighting work on installing sprinkler lines behind North College. The new sprinkler runs behind North and South College, Fayerweather, Usdan and Memorial Chapel.

The Center for the Arts received an accessibility upgrade near Crowell Concert Hall. The renovation included installing a new handicap ramp near the front entrance, and installing an elevator in a former stairwell.

Wesleyan contractor Gary Rawlings, lead energy auditor technician at Lantern Energy, uses a two-part spray foam to insulate a student residence on Fountain Avenue. Several Wesleyan wood-framed homes received an energy audit this summer. Resident halls also have been equipped with a new energy-metering and energy-monitoring system, which display data on energy consumption.

Contractor Superior Finishes primed and painted the Astronomy Department's Van Vleck Observatory. The observatory’s largest dome was stripped to the tin surface before painting.
