On April 6, artists and visitors gathered at the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery for a reception for week three of the Senior Thesis Exhibition. This week's exhibition features work by seniors Sophie Becker, Casey Herrick, Samantha Ho, Gla, and Zach Scheinfeld from the Department of Art and Art History's art studio program. In February, the annual student-curated exhibition, Be The Art, committed to celebrating and raising awareness of artists of color, was held at the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery. The objective of this showcase is to create a space that exhibits the work of artists who are often underrepresented at Wesleyan and in the world at large. An exhibition titled "We Chat: A Dialogue in Contemporary Chinese Art" opened Jan. 26 in the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery. In her introductory remarks, Center for the Arts Director Pam Tatge ’84, MALS ’10, P’16 noted that this was the first gallery exhibition of work by this generation of Chinese artists in this country. Born after the end of the Cultural Revolution, these young artists are challenging traditional notions of Chinese identity and inventing new ways to shout out in the global arena. "A World of Dreams—New Landscape Paintings" by Professor of Art Tula Telfair will be on exhibit through Dec. 7 at the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery. "A World of Dreams" includes new large-scale paintings in which Telfair presents monumental landscapes and epic-scale vistas that are simultaneously awe-inspiring and intimate.
