Hirut Mcleod ’00, a management consultant at The World Bank, delivered the keynote address. Mcleod has experience coaching leaders at all levels in Africam Asian and the Balkan region. She served as elected alumna trustee of the Wesleyan Board of Trustees from 2012-2014. Steve Kallaugher ’73 of Young Heroes; John Manners of KenSAP; and Marina King ’16 from Shining Hope for Communities spoke on a children and youth panel. The talk was moderated by Alice Hadler, associate dean for international student affairs. Laura Ann Twagira, assistant professor of history, and Michael Nelson, assistant professor of government, listen to the panel on children and youth. Chelsea Tweneboah ’15 of Cape Coast Regional Hospital in Ghana ; Shadrack Frimpong of Healthy Africa; and Tiffany Aquino of Unite for Sight participated in a healthcare panel. The talk was moderated by Laura Ann Twagira, assistant professor of history. The summit provided a platform for exposure and conversation about the growth of innovation on the African continent, and celebrated those who are paving a new path for progress in Africa.
