Wesleyan’s newest students and their families are welcomed to the Wesleyan community during a series of Summer Sendoffs June 20 to Aug. 25. Alumni and parents are hosting the events at various locations around the world.
All members of the Wesleyan community are invited to attend the casual socials. Pictured below are photos from a few of the gatherings:
The Taiwan Summer Sendoff, held June 17, was organized and sponsored by Mark Hsieh ’90 and May Chao ’06. Ying Jia Tan, assistant professor of history, assistant professor of East Asian studies, also attended.
A Summer Sendoff was held in New Jersey on July 26. The event was hosted by Brian ’80 and Gari Abdoo.
A Summer Sendoff was held in Seoul, Korea on July 1. Kwanghee Lee ’88, P’21, Joyce Park ’04, Youkyung Lee ’07, and Sunho Hwang ’05 organized the event. Joyce Jacobsen, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and Melanie Khamis, assistant professor of economics, assistant professor of Latin American studies, also attended. This Summer Sendoff was sponsored by WesKo.
On July 17, a Summer Sendoff was held in Washington D.C. The event was hosted by Lisa Hook P’17, Peter Gillon P ’17 and Nick Springsteen ’17.
On July 2, Shogo Maeda ’79 and Kotaro Aoki ’16 organized a Summer Sendoff in Tokyo, Japan.
Stu and Danielle Seltzer P’17, ‘20 hosted a Summer Sendoff in Mamaroneck, N.Y. on July 20.
The Hong Kong Summer Sendoff was hosted by Will McLane ’92, and organized by Carmen Cheung ’05 on July 7.
Friends gathered for a Summer Sendoff in New York City on Aug. 3.
The Chicago Summer Sendoff was hosted by Lewis ’83 and Shawn Ingall P’21 on Aug. 15.
The Fairfield, Conn. Summer Sendoff was hosted by Cecilia ’91 and Greg McCall on Aug. 10.
The Tokyo Summer Sendoff was hosted by Chiharu and Roberto Lorenzoni P’19, P’20.
