Bill Craighead, assistant professor of economics, is the author of a paper titled "Monetary Rules and Sectoral Unemployment in Open Economies" published in the June 2014 issue of the Journal of Macroeconomics. Search theory has given us a more realistic mechanism to study unemployment in macroeconomic models. In this paper, Craighead integrated search theory into an “open economy” macroeconomic model – i.e., a model of an economy that interacts with the rest of the world. Brian KattenMore than 170 student athletes were honored for excellence in academic achievement and outstanding athletic performance at a banquet May 1 in Beckham Hall. Those invited to the gathering were members of the sophomore, junior and senior classes who had distinguished themselves both in the classroom with a minimium GPA of 3.2 and in athletic competition as a significant contributor to the success of their chosen sport(s). Kate CarlisleBoth the SAT and the ACT tests will be optional for high school applicants to Wesleyan University starting next fall, President Michael S. Roth announced this week. The tests, given annually to about three million students in 170 countries, have been part of the Wesleyan admissions process for many years. Wesleyan has required either the SAT with two subject tests, or the ACT. Now the university joins several hundred institutions, including many of its peer colleges, in making the tests optional.
